Rag Stone Walling Repairs - St Anne's RC Church, Whitechapel

Typical of many churches of this period, rag stones have been squeezed out by the slowly backward leaning gable and poor maintenance. Eventually they can fall out, and require some new and recovered stones bedded into hydraulic lime mortar. Here the stones are semi-random, although they can be uniform like stretcher courses of bricks.
